Beauty and the Beast

CTK school children watched  a live show at Manukau Vodafone Centre;  the Beauty and the Beast, the fantastic production of Sancta Maria College.

Have you ever gone to a theatre to watch a live show? Christ the King has! We watched Sancta Maria College’s Beauty and the Beast Production at Manukau Vodafone Centre. We went on Friday the 9th of May. The Production started at 12 P.M. Sancta Maria students acted as the characters in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. The main characters in the play were Belle, The Beast, Lumiere (candle), Babette (duster), Cogsworth (clock), Maurice, Mrs Potts, Chip, Wardrobe and Gaston.

In the story of Beauty and the Beast, there was a selfish and mean prince who didn’t treat people nicely. One day there was a witch who came to his dark and gloomy palace and begged him for something. Every time she begged he refused and told her to go away. The witch became furious and put a curse on him.The witch gave him a rose and told him before the last rose petal falls. He has to find the love of his life and he has to return that love so that the curse would be broken. This curse made him become a mean beast. All his housemaids and helpers became talking teapots, candles, clocks, wardrobes, cups and other things. In a little town there is a beautiful girl named Belle. She was a caring and a nice person. She was the one that would break the curse that the witch had put on the beast. When Belle entered the gloomy palace to find her father, the beast fell in love with her but to break the curse, Belle had to return the love back to him.

I thought that the production was excellent but the only thing I didn’t like was the romance. I like how the actors acted their part very well and how they made it so real. The actors were very convincing and I really like the singing parts of the production. The scenes were beautiful! I really like the gloomy palace scene but they should have  tried to make Belle’s room more like a royal bedroom. They also should have made the scene more like a dinner place where Belle and the beast could eat dinner. Other than these things everything else was perfect! I rate the production 5 star!

I recommend this production to young and old who really like fairy-tales and who really like watching live theatre. I would also recommend this to people who love watching Disney’s version of fairy tales

Everyone enjoyed the live show and raving about it for days; this is one of the reviews.

Book Review

We love books.  Here are some of the books we read and reviewed-

   CARBONEL
Carbonel is a story about an ordinary girl called Rosemary. Rosemary bought a cat called Carbonel and a witch broom. She got both of these things from a witch that she had bumped into in a marketplace. The story goes on when she discovers new things. She discovers that when she has the broom she can understand what Carbonel is saying. Another thing she discovers is that Carbonel is a royal cat and that he had been kitten-napped and still had to back and fight for the throne. I like this story because I like how the author hooks the reader and how the author made their adventures very fun and thrilling. I like Rosemary’s personality because she is a fun person and she is a character that always hopes for success. I also like her personality because she always insists to help and she looks forward to new things. I recommend this book for people who are interested in magic and for people who love adventures.

The Invention of Hugo Cabret

The invention of Hugo Cabret is about a boy named Hugo who lives with his uncle in a clock. One day his uncle leaves and never comes back. This is about how he copes to live by himself for many years.

I liked the way the author kept the book interesting and it was easy to picture it in your head. The author made it seem so real that it felt like you were in that setting. Especially when Hugo and his friend were looking out of the biggest clock in the station to reveal the beautiful city of love (Paris).

I recommend this book to people who love to read long books and to people who love a good challenge when they read.
