Book Review

Book review time---these are the books children have been reading.

Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix
This is Harry’s fifth adventure with his two best friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger back at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Harry, Hermione and Ron are in their fifth year now which means hard work and more mysterious things happening at Hogwarts. As they have their welcome back feast Dumbledore introduces a new teacher that is from the Ministry Of Magic named Dolores Umbridge who is allowed to make rules for all the students and can dismiss teachers she does not like.  But she can’t banish them from the grounds which means she can’t take them away from Hogwarts. As they work and learn potions and magic Harry is about to discover something that will turn Hogwarts upside down.
I recommend this book to ages 10-16 because it is a thick book and has few words suitable for mature readers, for people that are in a higher level in reading and for people who love magic and mysteries.

The Pearl

BY:  Amy

‘The Pearl’ written by John Steinbeck is a novelette about a man named Kino. He has a wife, Juana and a baby son, Coyotito. The family of three has experienced many dangerous and tragic events in life and this happened after Kino found  the ‘Pearl of the World’.

The author wrote this book ‘The Pearl’ for a reason. The author wanted to tell us that wealth isn’t the solution to all problems. When Kino found the ‘Pearl of the World’, he thought that the pearl would lead him to a successful life and good fortune. But the pearl lead him to a very dangerous life because everybody envied the pearl, so they tried to steal it from them.

I recommend this book to ages 10 and over. This book is very interesting.  Kino had visions about the pearl that his son could read and he and his wife would be married in the church. I encourage you to read this book because the story used many similes, metaphors and exaggerations.

World of wishes
Ballerina Wishes
by: Mikayla
This story is about this ballerina who is in trouble. Her theater is in danger and her dance partner has vanished. To find her dance partner they must go to the frozen north and battle magic spells. Can Maddie and Sebastian find their dance partner? Will her wish come true? I rate this book a 9.5 and I recommend this book for ages 9-12 because it had many chapters. If I had to describe this book in one word I would say it is AMAZING!
